Backingpacking to Cresent Lake

We decided before the summer was over we needed to do a little backpacking trip with just the 3 of us. We headed for the Seeley Lake area and finally reached our trail head and off we went.
It's a pretty fun trail. We crossed over a stream a few times on these log bridges.

Gage was really excited when he saw the sign for the lake we were headed for.
He was a great hiker. We didn't have much wining at all from him. (That surprised me actually)
It was so cute to see Gage with his pack strapped to his little body. What a trouper! It weighed about 11 lbs and he weighs 44 lbs.
He couldn't wait to get in the lake and play. It was cold, but not as cold I was expecting.
We set up our tent on a rocky peninsula. It was beautiful and so peaceful. We did see some people, but pretty much we had the lake to ourselves.

Gage and I had fun picking huckleberries. They were plentiful. We got enough to take home and make some huckleberry ice cream. Yum!
We also did some exploring, hiked up to another lake and of course did quite a bit of fishing. Sadly Gage wasn't having any luck, Jared and I did.
Some pretty views on our way back down. This is Glacier lake.

We made it! We enjoyed ourselves so much. I wished we could have stayed longer. I really enjoyed keeping it simple and just enjoying the journey. Jared did most of the work planning and packing since he's the expert backpacker. Maybe that's why I enjoyed it so much!
It was a great end to an amazing summer, our last summer in Missoula. Makes me tear up just thinking about it!
