Glacier

We had the awesome opportunity to visit Glacier National Park. It is only 3 hours from here and we didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to go while living in Montana. We camped at a great KOA just outside West Glacier. We loved, loved, loved having showers and flush toilets. Also, it had a little park, pool and hot tub! Yes, we camped in comfort. We still enjoyed sleeping in our tent, cooking over the fire, enjoying dutch oven meals and smore's. If you see a face you don't recognize, that is our family friend Karra. She is definitely one of Gage's favorite people! We had a great time together.

Camping at the KOA

Trail of the Cedars
This is a simple trail, all on a boardwalk. It winds you through the trees. They had some great trees that are a child's dream. Gage kept wanting us to get in too, but we were afraid we would get stuck. Can you figure out what Gage is standing by in that first picture? Click on it and take a better look. It is the roots of a fallen tree. Isn't that awesome? We thought so.

Sun Rift Gorge

Baring Falls
This was a fun small falls to hike to. Gage and Jared found a little ridge that lead them up closer to the falls. It was hard to get a picture without the mist hitting my lens.

Going to the Sun Road
This is the road that winds you through Glacier National Park. The views are incredible! It takes about 2 hours to drive from West Glacier to East Glacier. If you aren't afraid of heights you will love it. I love the picture of Jared helping Gage "fly". The last picture that looks like a rain storm is actually a spot along the road call the Weeping Wall. If your windows are open you will get a shower. Jared surprised Gage by quickly rolling down his window and letting him get drenched. Gage had a shocked look on his face, but of course he loved it and was ready to do it again.

Swift Current Lake and Lodge
Jared got a great panoramic view of this lake. This lake is way over on the other side of Glacier, Many Glacier. The Lodge was pretty amazing inside. It was Swiss architecture. Even the bell hops were dressed in Swiss attire. It seemed like a pretty snooty place, but it was fun to look around and admire.

Avalanche Lake
This was our last hike during our stay. It was the longest hike and it gave us a good work out, at least Karra and I got a work out. There were many falls feeding into this lake. It would have been fun to have gotten closer to them, but they would be a challenge to get too. Gage, Karra and I soaked out feet in the lake while Jared did some fishing. He caught quite a few and so he was happy.

Glacier is by far one of my favorite places! I'm glad you liked the KOA. Great to see pics of places we didn't go.
