JAG AT THE HELM

Karra, our family friend!

Our family has adopted a woman in our ward. I started visiting teaching her over 3 years ago. She is single and all of her children are grown and gone, but she has us. We started inviting her into our home and on family outings. Gage just loves it when she comes. We call her Gage's surrogate Grandmother.  She is a lot of fun and loves to tickle and tease him.  She is definitely one of those adults that is still a child at heart. She is also always asking Jared about scientific things she hears. She loves to learn and Jared being a Helm loves to share all he knows with an eager listener. She is also the one who has played the piano for Gage when he has sang in church. What a blessing she is. We had her over to give her a little birthday cheer! Strawberry shortcake, yum!

When we lived in Conn. we had some adopted grandparents. Good friends who loved our little kids. Grandma and Grandpa Whirley. They had one daughter left at home and their grandchildren were far away. It was a good thing for both of us. I know how important that can be. Sure wish we were more available.
