My grandma Bartholomew died on March 29, 2015. She is my mom's mother. I have so many memories with her since she only lived about a mile down the road from us.
My cousin Stephanie was spot on when she listed her memories of grandma so I am quoting her. "...fishing(getting worms that popped out of the grass after grandpa put the electrical stakes in the ground) or picking asparagus while jumping on and off of her suburban
tailgate. Ice cream cones and cold tang(in tin cups) and popscicles and worms, cat head spiders on the swing-set and polliwogs, apricots and baby chicks
and lambs, aloe vera gel that smelled like stinky armpits to fix every
ail, splashing in the tin tubs (out on grandma's lawn, in our underwear!) or the giant bathtub with the lovely hose
to rinse our hair. That old toy cow that said moo when you blew into
it, and stoking the fires." One of my best memories centers around this picture with Grandpa and Grandma's big red truck. They would take us the the Oakley reservoir to fish. We loved it. Also going up the mountain in this truck to go to grandpa's sheep camp.
The funeral was beautiful. I played "How Great thou Art" for the grand kids to sing to. It was one of grandmas favorite and she would ask me to play it sometimes when I was at her house. Grandma loved music!
Here is aunt Jenny. She did pretty well and seemed to understand that her mom was gone to heaven.
It was a beautiful spring day and being together to share our memories was wonderful. We also got together to have a "weeny roast" in honor of Grandma, at her house. The weeny roasts were always a loved tradition that we did at grandma's for birthdays and other special occasions.
I am so grateful for the influence my grandma had on my life. She taught me to work hard, respect my elders, love nature and cherish family.

She sounds like a wonderful person , and while I'm sure she will be missed it is so good to celebrate a life well lived.
