I was the leader for Girls Camp and so I was in charge of the 4th year hike. Our ward, Oquirrh 1st, had started a tradition a few years back of it being a Daddy Daughter hike. It was a new thing for me, but I thought it was great. The hike was challenging for me, but not overwhelming. We went to Cumberant Lake in the Uintas. The young women did great, but some of the Dad's struggled a bit. But there was plenty of laughter with all of the teasing and joking around. Jared was kind enough to let me drag him along too.
It was a beautiful spot. We had the Hutcheons, Jackson's, Drennan's and Pugh's and Brother Olsen.
The lake was beautiful, but didn't have the best fishing, as Jared found out.
We stayed one night and headed back down the mountain.
Fun in Bluffdale
Old West Days in Bluffdale is a favorite summer tradition now. We enjoy going the the Family Rodeo. We had Jared's sister Angela visiting from New Mexico and his niece Bailey and her husband Talon and his sister visiting from Provo. Sarah's family usually joins us as well. The favorite activity is probably the money cow. This was Gage's last year to do mutton busting. He tried so hard to stay on longer than last year, but it just didn't happen. Way to go anyway Gage!
This is Gage getting ready to come out of the shoot, but I took a video of him riding so this is all you get of him riding. It all happens so fast!
Bluffdale City does such an awesome event. They get the firefighters to bring their trucks and spray foam on a section of the city park and let kids play in it. Then they have a water hose ready to spray them off when they are done. It's just the coolest thing. Gage, Elisha, Camden and Lincoln had a blast. The city also has a parade that we enjoy going to. I didn't get any pictures though.
Gage, Millie and I went to the Herriman Library to get solar eclipse glasses to watch the solar eclipse in style. It was fun being there with so many others and join in the excitement. It was an awesome thing to experience.
