Here are my parents with Gage and his cousin Camden. They were so excited to ride up to the mountains with Grandma and Grandpa.

Here are the kids drawing pictures on a canvas. Then the canvas went to help make a tepee. The kids were so excited. Jared and my brother Charles helped find the right kind of logs to put it all together.

The kids went around in the woods and found things in nature that could help them make an instrument. Then later that evening, around the campfire, they put on a parade and played their homemade instruments. If you look close at this picture you will see that several of the kids look like they have black eyes, I promise it's just dirt.

Softball is a must during our camp outs. Gage really enjoyed his turn to bat, but what he really wanted to do was just run the bases, who needs to bat when you can just keep running! Also, if you will notice, Gage and I are wearing Helm Reunion t-shirts at the Jenks Family Reunion. I thought it was quite funny.
Isn't this the best thing about camping?? Our kids sure did think so! Aahhh, nothin' like a dirt bath!

A definite highlight of this camp out was the appearance of Smokey the Bear and some forest fire fighters. The kids loved it! "Only you can prevent forest fires!" Gage was so impatient waiting for his turn to wear the fire fighter hat and pack. He kept saying "I want to be a fire fighter!" He looks like he just fought a fire, don't ya think?

My brother Joe and his wife Melissa planned this family reunion. They did such an awesome job. On the last night we played The Family Feud. They based it off questions they had us all answer before we got there. It was fantastic and so much fun!

Here is our little guy after a dirt filled, fun filled day! No wonder he was so happy. Me dirty = Me Happy!

When we came back from our camp out we enjoyed the Pioneer Day Celebration in Oakley. Many of my family members run the 10K run; siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles. I love cheering them on. They also have a mile run for children. This was Gage's first year to do it. He did a great job and just needed a little encouragement once during the race. It was so precious to see him race.
Then they have games for the kids at the park. We did a three legged race, donuts on a string, water balloon toss and tug of war. Since there was candy involved Gage was very motivated.
We had a fun time, but it was also very exhausting doing all that camping and celebrating. We are just now finally catching up on our sleep.

And way to get started on the racing early. Maybe he can do a tri with me next year!
Such fun. Love the dirty muggins! The nice thing about camping like that is that you get to go someplace afterwards to wash up. glad you guys had a good time and hope you enjoyed your pioneer day.
