We are sore, sunburned, and exhausted as well as satisfied, happy and grateful! Some of my family planned a weekend to get together at my parents home and get some yard and garden work done for my parents. It has been hard for them to keep up and we wanted to help. There were trees to be transplanted, garden to plant, yard and field to be mowed, weeds to obliterate, trees to be pruned and other miscellaneous things. We were so grateful for the beautiful weather to get all this work done. I am amazed we accomplished so much.

We brought two of Gages cousins with us to Grandma's. They enjoyed all that time outside to play and of course they got in on the work too!

Here are some more cousins to help dig the holes for the trees. Grandpa also gave the boys some projects. These dead rasberry bushes are going to the burn pile. The kids thought the burn pile was pretty fun. They love adding to it and watching it burn.

And of course we ended our work filled weekend with a hot dog roast! The kids had a very hard time waiting until Saturday night. But the time finally arrived and we devoured all the yummy food!We also celebrated Gage's and my brother Barry's birthdays. Gage was so excited. I found a recipe for this volcano cake online and showed it to Gage. He was so excited! My mom helped me with the cake and together we made it look pretty good. The kids all loved it and that's all that matters, right?
Gage was having a hard time getting to his candles so he could blow them out, but don't worry, mom helped him out.
He got a puzzle of the United States and a hands on Human Body Model. I know, I know, you are thinking we are strange parents for getting him these kinds of gifts. But we wouldn't get them for him if he wasn't interested. He loves sitting down with his Dad and talking about the body and all it's functions. He just can't seem to get enough of it.
It is crazy to think that Gage is already four years old. He is so fun right now. Turning four has been so monumental for him. He just thinks it is the best thing ever. He asked me "What can four year olds do?" So we had a discussion about that. He feels that he is stronger, faster, grown taller and more capable to do most anything now that he is four. He loves telling stories or just talking about a wide variety of things. He seems to wake up talking. He wants to tell us about what he "dreamed about" that night. If he really dreams about all the things he talks about then his sleep must be exhausting. He has turned into a great helper and loves helping me in the kitchen with the cooking and baking. It has been fun to do more things with him and see his passion for life. He is our joy! We love him so much and are blessed that he is ours.
Happy Birthday Gage

It was so nice to see you guys and to be able to celebrate Gage's birthday. He is such a great kid!
Lots of little helpers! That takes good management skills. =o) Great job helping!
I loved the cake. Gage sounds like a smart and creative little guy. It's always fun to see what catches kids' attention. Happy Birthday from us too!

Happy (belated) birthday, Gage! I remember four being monumental for Ruthie, too-- a fun age.
That is a great cake! I'm so glad we got to go out this morning, because now it is yucky! That was a lot of fun, and so beautiful!
That is one cool cake! Good job Amy. Our kiddos are also into the human body. I wonder why they don't teach that earlier? When we get together they can quiz each other.
Fun cake! Wish we could have made it there.
