Gage is currently taking swimming lessons at the YMCA with some of his friends. To say that he loves it is an understatement. He can't wait to get there and jump in. He came home one day saying "chicken, airplane, soldier...chicken, airplane, solider". It took us a bit to figure out why he was saying it and then he showed us. Can you guess what he was learning?

He has to take a shower before entering the pool. We bought him a 'warm belly suit'. It is suppose to keep him warmer. He loves to swim, but he always freezes and has blue lips. The belly suit was highly recommended to us. He still gets cold and shivers, but not worse then any of the other kids.

I would have to say his favorite part is jumping in. He likes to jump as far as he can. At one of the lessons, when his teachers back was turned as she was helping another student, Gage jumped in. His teacher was quick to turn around, grab him up out of the water and put him back up on the side. I couldn't tell if she gave him a good talking to, but she should have. On the way home he and I certainly had a talk about it. He hasn't tried it since so hopefully he's learned his lesson.

Gage has been learning how to float. He was doing a great job. I was impressed. I wasn't able to get a very good picture because of where we have to sit during the lessons, but if you look close you can see him by the basketball hoop.

Oh yes, I know chicken airplane soldier VERY well. That and the "water bunnies" are what got me through as a teacher. =o) I hope he continues to love it - definitely worth the trouble it takes to get him there!
That makes me want to swim right now...
He shore looks like he's having fun. I really like his outfit. He looks like one of those olympic swimmers with the full body suit.
I love the top picture! He looks like he is having a good time.
How fun! I miss the great YMCA we had in Kansas. I need to get my kids in swim lessons this summer.
yay for swimming lessons. Glad he likes it so much and you found a way to help him stay a bit warmer!
once he's got floating down, the rest will be really easy.
