Gage found his perch right away. He loved getting on this boulder. Jared and Gage tried to do a little fishing in this little stream in some deeper spots, but they just caught some little fish. Gage looked forward each night to being able to roast starbursts and marshmallows. The funny thing is that he doesn't like marshmallows after they have been cooked so....his were always very undercooked.

We decided to hike to Moose Lake. We were wanting to be adventurous and it definitely was, especially since there was no trail! YIKES! We were hoping to be able to drive up farther, but a big tree was in our way. We found some big tracks along a section of the road that were pretty large. Let's see...we are hiking to moose lake so....it must be a moose track! I must say I got a bit spooked after seeing that. We walked up the road a ways until we saw what looked like an arrow traced in the road. We took that as a sign and followed it. Jared has a hand held GPS device that he put the coordinates in for the Lake and that is what kept us on the right track.

This is what we hiked through. Lots and lots of brush, boulders, felled trees, springs and more tedious brush.

About a half an hour before we got to the Lake I was not feeling adventurous any more and I have to admit the whinny side of me started to come out. But as soon as we made it and saw Moose Lake it made it all worth it.

We didn't see a moose until we were driving back to camp, but she was obviously not interested in seeing us because she ran off before we could get a picture. Gage loved being able to pick berries and eat them. We found lots of huckleberries up by the lake that we picked (see below), and as we were driving back we let Gage pick wild raspberries out the window. He thought they were great, but they really didn't taste that great.

Yes, for those who didn't know, Jared finally got a motorcycle. He has tried to convince me for several years now. I have gone back and forth with how I felt about it and it's usefulness. But the time finally seemed right. It has been very nice not having to take Jared to the bus stop everyday. Gage and I don't have helmet's yet so we don't normally ride, but we got to while camping. There was a dirt, low traffic road by our campsite and Jared was commanded to go slow! We loved it!

We brought our huckleberries home and made milk shakes with them. YUM! What a great way to end our camping season.

I decided to take pictures of all the wild flowers I saw. My dad probably already knows the names of most of them, but I will have to look it up and find the names.

Sounds like a great camping trip! I wish I could find some huckleberries around here to pick - yours look really good!
What a fun summer you've been having. We just went on a last camping trip too. School starts on Monday.
Quite the adventure. Hope Jared continues to enjoy his motercycle!
Fun times! crazy that the summer is almost gone.
Jared has a motorcycle? I guess I shouldn't be too suprised as he has always wanted one, but what the heck?
Beautiful pictures. So happy for you that you live where you can camp so easy. Would love to have helped in the huckleberry picking. And most important please be careful riding your cycle!
We tried out the roasted starbursts. The kids loved them! And I don't think your whiny side is nearly as bad as mine. :)
Looks like a great time! We haven't been camping forever and I miss it! Gage is getting so big and handsome. I can't believe Jared got a motorcycle. You are a very nice wife!
