Christmas in New Mexico

On our first day of travel to New Mexico for Christmas we were able to stop at Temple Square and see the lights. We also toured the Conference Center. Gage was in awe of it all!
On our second day of travel we stopped along the way at one of the arches, Wilson Arch. It was fun to get out and climb. The weather was beautiful!

We really enjoyed having Auntie Emily along on the second day of our trip. She is great with Gage!

A fun tradition that Jared's family does are luminarios. It lights the way for the Christ Child. First we fold the brown paper bags, then we fill them with sand and place them around outside their home and finally at dusk, light a candle and put it in the bag. Even Gage's Great Grandma Ritchie got involved!

Christmas morning finally arrived and Gage found the parlor room doors taped shut. But that didn't stop Gage and Thorpe from trying to peek. They both knew there were some special things behind those doors.

The traditional picture on the stairs before we are let into Santa's room! And there is Grandma and Grandad.

We had a great time opening presents and enjoying each others company.

We were able to do some fun things the week following Christmas. One of them was exploring Bandelier. It is where the ancestral Pueblo people lived. They made their homes in the rock. Gage loved being able to climb many ladders to get up into what used to be homes.

We had a great time exploring and imagining what it would have looked like way back when....

Another adventure was ice skating at an outdoor rink. We all had a great time even if we did go home with a few bumps and bruises.
Gage started out with help, but was determined to skate on his own, which he did. I was impressed! But I think he liked it best when his dad would hold his hands and take him around the rink at lightening speed.

Thanks family for spoiling us so thoroughly! We enjoyed spending time with Grandma Jan, Grandad, Grandma Ritchie, Angela, Aaron, Emily, Melanie, Jenny, Tom, Alec, Megan, Carly, Sarah, Jacob and of course Thorpe too.

We are so lonely now that most of you are gone. It was so fun having everyone around to laugh and talk to, and share our fun with. Thanks for the great pictures. I kept forgetting to take them.
